OBITUARY: Amanda Morgan
Amanda Powell, daughter of Isaac and Martha Powell, was born July 24, 1863,
near Unionville, Mo., and departed this life June 27, 1945, at the age of 81
years, 11 months, and 3 days.
She was united in marriage to James Morgan, April 10, 1881. Four children were
born to this union. Willie, is one who passed away in 1914. Those left to
mourn her passing are her aged husband; Mrs. Etta Davis, Unionville, Mo., Mrs.
Finley McKinley, Mendota, Mo., Johnny of the home; two grandchildren - Neal
McKinley who is with the armed forces somewhere in the South Pacific, and Mrs.
Dixie McKinley Hurley of Livonia; two little great grandsons - Gary McKinley
and Larry Hurley.
She was one of a family of 14 children, and was preceded in death by her
parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Eva Hedges, Centerville, Georgia and Mrs.
Ida Davis of Unionville, Mo., 4 brothers, Jackson of Rock Island, Ill., Ed of
Springfield, Mo., Ora of Roundup, Mont., and Ira of Unionville, Mo.
Mrs. Morgan united with the Christian church of Stringtown when a young girl.
She lived her Christian life every day and her every thought was for the
comfort and happiness of her family and home. Her entire life was spent in the
Stringtown neighborhood, where she was a friend to everyone. The family mourn
a loving and devoted mother, and the neighbors a good friend.
Funeral services were conducted at the Husted Funeral Home at 2:00 Friday, June
29, 1945, by Clifford L. Hart, Christian minister. Burial was in the
Unionville Cemetery.

OBITUARY: George Monroe Hedges
George Monroe Hedges, son of Harrison and Sarah Hedges, was born in Putnam
conty, [MO] August 10, 1861; departed this life at Monroe Hospital in
Unionville, Mo., April 22, 1947, at the age of 85 years, 8 months, 12 days,
having been a life long resident of Putnam county.
He was united in marriage to Evalene Powell. To this union six children were
born, four sons and two daughters. These are: Ernest of Des Moines, Ia., Neal
of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Faye Bills of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Mrs. Fern
Thompson of Carterville, Ga. Two sons, Harry and Freal, died in infancy.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild and by a host
of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at the Comstock Funeral Home at 3 p.m.,
Wednesday by the Rev. Elston M. Hines. Comstock brothers sang appropriate
musical numbers with Mrs. Jim Comstock accompanying at the piano. Burial in
the Unionville Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Former Putnam Woman Dies in Texas
The funeral of Mrs. F.F. White, who died at her home at Greenbrier Farm near
Tyler, Texas, Saturday, Aug. 3, 1912, at 12:00 was held Monday afternoon, Aug.
5, at 3:00. Interment at Pleasant Retreat Cemetery.
Mrs. White, who with her husband has lived on their farm at Greenbrier for
something over a years, suffered a stroke of paralysis about 10 days ago, which
resulted in her death Saturday. Her mother and sister arrived last night from
Unionville, Mo., to attend the funeral.
Funeral services were held at the home by Rev. Loan of the First Presbyterian
Church. Pall bearers wer, W.L. Bostick, Geo. Jones, Tom Berry, Jim Myart and
Joe Nethery.
Emma Powell White, a daughter of Mrs. Isaac Powell, was born in Putnam Co.,
Mo., Oct. 27, 1876. She grew to womanhood there but in the course of time
drifted to Texas, where she was married to Mr. F.F. White. She leaves besides
her husband, a mother, 4 sisters and 6 brothers to mourn her untimely death.

Born November 23, 1882, in Unionville, Missouri. He married Charlotte
Heriferd, November 9, 1927 at Centerville, Iowa.
They farmed near Unionville, [MO] until 1939, when they moved to Roundup,
[MT]. He was employed as a miner in No. 3 mine until his retirement in 1949.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles of Roundtop; daughter, Mrs. Richard
Jeffries (sic - Jeffrey) of Roundup; sisters, Mrs. Ida Davis of Unionville,
Missouri; Mrs. Evelyn Hedges of Rome, Georgia; brothers, Ira Powell and Edward
Powell, both of Unionville, Missouri.

Ira (Capp) Powell was born April 25, 1895 to Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Powell in
Putnam county, Missouri. He departed from life January 25, 1972 at the age of
86 years and 9 months.
Ira attended school at Stringtown and later was united in marriage to Eva Baggs
(sic, Boggs) on Dec. 27, 1911.
Ira was a willing worker and a good neighbor. He spent his entire life farming
in Putnam county, [MO] and in 1951 he retired in Unionville, [MO].
Ira was a member of the Christian Church. He was a devoted and faithful
servant to his Lord.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva; his parents, six sisters and seven
brothers. He leaves to mourn, several nieces and nephes, and a host of
friends.
Services were held Thursday, January 27, 1972, at 1:30 p.m. from Comstock
Funeral Home, Unionville, [MO]. The officiating minister was Donald Bruner of
the Christian Church. Burial was in the Unionville Cemetery,
[Unionville, MO].
Pallbearers: Orval Bowman, Jeri McKinley, Clan McKinley, Glen Webber, Millard
Bowman and W.W. King.

life and in 1951 they moved and made their residency in Unionville.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include the husband, Ira;
one brother, Myrl Baggs of Unionville; one sister-in-law, Ida Davids (sic);
and a host of friends.
Eva was a member of the Unionville Christian Church, being baptized in
August 1952.
Services were held Tuesday June 30, 1970 at the Comstock Funeral Home in
Unionville at 2:00 p.m. The officiating minister was Donald Bruner of the
Unionville Christian Church. Burial was in the Unionville Cemetery
[Unionville, MO].
