" Harold G. Muhs, age 83, of West Point, Nebraska Harold G. Muhs, age 83, of West Point, died Monday, September 29th, at West Point Living Center in West Point. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 2nd at St. Mary's Church in West Point with burial in the Holy Cross Cemetery at Beemer. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 1st, from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Public wake service with Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7pm all at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point.
Harold was born December 27, 1924 at Stanton to Henry and Laura (Lemke) Muhs and was baptized and confirmed and St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, rural Stanton. He grew up on the farm and attended country school in Stanton and Cuming County. On October 4, 1949 he married Dorothy Stieren at St. Aloysius Catholic Church at Aloys and converted to Catholicism. Dorothy died of health complications in September 4, 1951. Harold farmed north of Beemer and North of West Point. On December 27, 1977, Harold married Loretta Reeson Schmaderer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. Harold retired in the late 1980’s. Harold was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus. He served on the Sherman County Township Board for 27 years. He enjoyed playing cards with his faithful card club. Survivors include his wife, Loretta, of West Point, grandchildren; Jennifer (Moody) Abdalla of Berkley Heights, New Jersey and Mitchell (Melissa) Muhs of Sidney, great grandchildren; Gehan, Selma and Noah Abdalla and Carson and Aiden Muhs, daughter in law Janet Muhs of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, sisters; Darlene Wiese of West Point and Phyliss (John) Gallop of Norfolk, step children; Dan (Cathy) Schmaderer of Ames, Janet (W.L.) Hart of San Jose, California, Sandy Schmaderer of Frisco, Colorado, Kathy Dinslage of Clarkson, and Judy (Gene)Uher of Dodge. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy, and their son, Dale, in July 2006 and his parents."
