Joan M. Scholl, 78 of Elgin, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at St. Boniface Church in Elgin, with Rev. Ross Burkhalter officiating.

Joan Marie Scholl, daughter of Arnold and Helen (Johnson) Reikofski, was born May 10, 1935 at Meadow Grove, NE.
She attended school at Tilden and graduated from Tilden High School in 1952. Following graduation, she worked at the Tilden Community Hospital.
On November 26, 1955 Joan married Maynard J. Scholl at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Tilden.
The couple made their home in Elgin all of their married life, where they raised their five children. Joan was a housewife and also worked as a cook at the Elgin Senior Center before retiring in 2000.
Joan was a member of St. Boniface Church and the VFW Auxiliary in Elgin.
She helped and touched many people in her life and enjoyed her job as cook at the Elgin Senior Center. She also enjoyed spending time outside in her flower gardens and with family and friends.
After retirement, she found great pleasure in designing and making quilts for her family.
Joan is survived by her husband Maynard of Elgin, NE; five children: Karin (Mike) Kinney of Elgin, NE; Steve (Donna) Scholl of Friend, NE; Kathy (Kasey) Tobias of Sargent, NE; Randy Scholl and Jeff Scholl, both of Elgin, NE; 11 grandchildren: Joshua and Matthew Kinney, Dylan, Josie and Gracia Scholl, Holli Smith, Kash and Luke Tobias, Emily and Jessica Scholl, and Jacob Schoreder; 12 great-grandchildren: Faith, Cale and Brooke Kinney; Corbin, Emma and Lillianne Kinney; Shanda Halthus, Alicen Campbell, Addison Scholl-Bellah; Maci and Alli Smith and Taylin Tobias.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three grandsons: Danny Scholl, Trent Scholl, and Michael Scholl."
