John Martin (Jack) Funk

"JACK FUNK, 38, PASSES AWAY; SERVICES JAN. 29
Funeral services for Jack Funk, 38, of Clearwater were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 29 in St. John's Catholic Church southwest of Clearwater. The Reverend Paul Dickey officiated.
Burial was made in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Clearwater.
He passed away Jan. 26, 1975 in Antelope Memorial Hospital after an illness of several months.
On April 12, 1958 he was united in marriage with Miss Carol Childers at St. Boniface Church in Elgin.
Survivors include his widow, Carol; five daughters, Laurie, Joyce, Peggy Joan and Jean all at home; three sons, Larry, Rick, and Bob, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Rudy (Margaret) Funk of Clearwater; five sisters, Mrs. Pat (Catherine) Hynes of Las Vegas, Nev., Mrs. Mark ( Mae) Sehi of Neligh, Mrs. Duane (Pat) Beckman of East Moline, Ill., Mrs. Eldon (Jean) Black of Beemer, Mrs. Jerome (Margaret Mary) Thoendel of Waterloo and one brother, Francis Funk of Dubuque, Ia. He was preceded in death by one son, John and his father, Rudy Funk.
The pallbearers: Arthur Sehi, Chris Black, Clarence Funk, Dale Funk, Joseph Funk, Vincent Thiele."

Funk child receives fatal burns
Funeral services for John Funk, 3, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Funk of Clearwater were held Tuesday, July 9 at 10 AM in St. John's Catholic Church southwest of Clearwater.
The Rev. Albert Sudbeck officiated at the service and burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff Beckman, Chris Black, Kurt Childers, Francis Funk, Joseph Knievel and Edward Thiele.
He died Saturday in Children's Memorial Hospital where he was taken after suffering third-degree burns over 95% of his body Wednesday. The child had apparently turned on the gas stove and caught his pajamas on fire. He was admitted first to Antelope Memorial Hospital and flown to Omaha by Dr. Dwaine Peetz.
Survivors include his parents, two brothers, four sisters, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Childers of Elgin and Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Funk of Clearwater and a great-grandmother Mrs. Mamie Childers of Genoa."

Norma Jean Funk

"Funeral services for Jean Black age 80 of Beemer, NE will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Beemer, NE. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will continue on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. There will be an Altar Society Rosary at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by a Public Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. both at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in Beemer is in charge of the arrangements.
Jean passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at her home in Beemer, NE.
Norma Jean Black was born on June 26, 1933 south of Clearwater, NE to Rudolph "Rudy" and Margaret (McCarthy) Funk. She was raised near Clearwater, NE and was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, rural Clearwater. Jean graduated from O'Neill St. Mary's High School in 1950. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Norfolk, NE. On December 29, 1953, she was united in marriage to Carl "Eldon" Black at St. John's Catholic Church, rural Clearwater. The couple lived in Neligh, Bloomfield, Wisner, Emerson and Beemer, NE. Eldon passed away on November 9, 1976. Jean was a cook at the Beemer Public School and also had worked at First National Bank in Beemer, NE. On October 9, 1987, she married Jack Jones and he later passed away on April 16, 1996.
Jean was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, its Altar Society, Beemer American Legion Auxiliary Post #159. She was a Master Gardener and enjoyed taking care of the Beemer Mini Park and wherever else necessary. Jean loved spending time with her family, attending her coffee club, gardening, and also enjoyed music.
