' George Frank Steffensmeier, 87, of Dodge, died Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Park View Nursing Home in Dodge.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with Reverend Ralph Steffensmeier as celebrant. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery at Olean.
Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund.
George was born February 21, 1920 at West Point to Bernard and Julia Renner Steffensmeier. He grew up on the farm north east of Howells and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School at Olean. Before his marriage, George worked on the family farm and did migrant farm work. On August 22, 1950, he married Angela Dinslage at St. Aloysius Church at Aloys. The couple farmed northwest of Dodge. George was proud of his farrow to finish hog operation. He enjoyed showing his hogs from Cuming or Dodge Counties to Aksarben or the State Fair. George moved into Dodge in 1992 and retired from farming in 1995.
George was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters, served on the Board of Directors for Farmers Union Coop and Oil Association, Howells, 27 years on the Lincoln Township Board, and District 46 School Board. George enjoyed socializing, playing cards and bowling. Before moving into Dodge he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include daughters; Joan (John) Abboud of Omaha, Jean (Jake) of California City, CA, sons ; Ron (Sherry) of Manchester NH, Merlyn (Barb) of Dodge, and Jim (Sherri) of Liberty, MO, sisters; Caroline Kemp of Dodge, Theresa Dinslage and Agnes (Bill) Hunke both of West Point, brothers Walter (Mary Ann) of Dodge, Reverend Ralph Steffensmeier of Cedar Rapids, and Norbert (Janice) of Omaha, sister in laws; Henrietta Steffensmeier of West Point, Anne Steffensmeier of Howells, and Lorene Steffensmeier of Dodge, grand children; Sara Steffensmeier, Rachel Mack, Aaron (Casey) Steffensmeier, Justin, Adam, Nick, and Eric Steffensmeier, great grandchildren ;Allie and Alayna Steffensmeier, step grandchildren; Savannah, Stacy and Kayla Mullenix , Paul Abboud and Lisa Bradrick, step great grandchild; Tyler Mullenix. He is preceded in death by his wife Angela, October 9, 1979, brothers Herman, Aloysius, Nicholas, Vincent, and Wilfred, sister in law Marie Steffensmeier, and brothers in law Leonard Dinslage and Leonard Kemp.' "Wilfred Steffensmeier 04 Jan 2002- Howells, NE 74, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at his home. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells with the Revs. Paul Ortmeier and Ralph Steffensmeier officiating. Burial is in the parish cemetery. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. today with a 3 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. parish and Knights of Columbus rosary, and 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday, all at the church. Mr. Steffensmeier was born Oct. 24, 1927, in Cuming County in the Olean area to Bernard and Julia (Renner) Steffensmeier. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Olean near rural Howells. He married Ann Franzluebbers on Aug. 20, 1957, in Monterey in rural West Point. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the church, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters and American Legion, all of Howells Farmers Union. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Patrick (Mary) Steffensmeier of Norfolk and Steve Streffensmeier of Howells; four daughters, Loretta (Larry) Hockmeier and Arlene Steffensmeier, all of Norfolk, Marge (Randy) Cech of Clarkson, and carol (Dave)Semerad of Dodge; five grandchildren, four brothers, George Steffensmeier and Walter (Mary Ann) Steffensmeier, all of Dodge, the Rev Ralph Steffensmeier, Aunts Theresa Huhman, Ann Herrmann, Mary Ulrich, Frances Franzlubbers Steffensmeier of Cedar Rapids and Norbert (Janice) Steffensmeier of Omaha, and three sisters, Theresa Dinslage, and Agnes (William) Hunke all of West Point, and Caroline Kemp of Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Herman Steffensmeier, Aloysius Steffensmeier, Nickolas Steffensmeier and Vincent Steffensmeier."

Cemetery, West Point. Pallbearers were Russel Ortmeier, Chris Yosten, Kevin Ortmeier, Mark Hunter, Greg Janky and Jim Ortmeier. Mr. Ortmeier died Wednesday May 27, 1992, at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha. He was born at West Point, Feb 28, 1916 to Herman and Clara (Maly) Ortmeier. He attended St. Boniface School at Monterey. He married Marcella Vitek at St. Boniface Catholic Church Jan 7, 1936.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Point, and farmed in the area.
Survivors include his wife: daughters Janice Steffensmeier, Omaha and Jonneth Schwartz, Woodbury, MN, a son, John Jr., Omaha; sisters, Ida Peatrowsky and Verna Schnieder, Fort Collins, CO and Theresa Huhman, Columbus, NE; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and six sisters.

Marcella was born July 6, 1915 at Dodge to Jacob and Emily (Jaloudek) Vitek and attended schools there. On January 6,1936 she married John H. Ortmeier, Sr. at Monterey,
They farmed west West Point until 1965 when they moved to an an acreage near Valley and Marcella worked at the Campbell's Soup Plant in Fremont, After her husband's retirement they moved near Oakland, where she remained until her husband's death in 1992. Marcella then moved to West Point before moving Dodge Nursing Home in 1993.
She was member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at West Point. She loved to cooking, baking gardening and enjoyed her days as a farm wife. Survivors include daughters Janice (Norbert) Steffensmeier of Omaha, and Jonneth "Jo" (Tom)Schwartz, of Woodbury, MN, son John H., Jr., (Geraldine) Ortmeier of Omaha, and 7 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, brothers, Alvin and Melville Vitek and a half sister Mary Petz. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Stalp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.' "
