Marcia Nadene Peterson

" Funeral services for Nadene Furstenau, age 75, of Tilden, were held Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church Of Christ in Neligh. Rev. Ray Avidano will officiate with burial in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh.
Visitation was Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden.
Mrs. Furstenau died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Nadene Furstenau was born October 19, 1931, on a farm near Neligh, Nebraska to Romaine and Helen (Carpenter) Peterson. Nadene attended country school at District #71 and #107 near Neligh. She graduated from Neligh High School in 1949. After high school graduation she attended Wayne State College to become a teacher and she taught one year at District #107.
On May 21, 1950, Nadene was united in marriage to Verlon Furstenau in Neligh. They lived on a farm east of Neligh during their 56 years of marriage. To this union three children were born with the youngest, Leila Jan, passing away the day of birth.
Family was important to Nadene and she was proud of their accomplishments. Her life had been blessed with grandchildren and great grandchildren and she was enjoying being able to watch them begin their lives.
Nadene was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Neligh where she was baptized as a young girl. She was also a member of the Hill n Dale Extension Club.
Survivors include her husband, Verlon, son Galen (Debbie) Furstenau of Tilden and daughter Verlene (Lynn) of Geneva. Seven grandchildren; Ryan, Cory, and Kent Furstenau, Kara Johnson, Simone Mertens, Scott and Brian Yates, great grandchildren; Paige and Chase Furstenau, Natalie Johnson, Shaylee, Jayda, Keegan, and Kinzie Mertens, and McKenna Yates. Brothers; Richard Peterson, of Columbus, Kenneth Peterson of Gretna, and Keith Peterson of Enid, Oklahoma; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents sisters Joyce and Lois, and daughter Leila Jan. Memorials may be directed to the Tilden Fire and Rescue.
