Judy Maxine Jones was born on V-E Day, May 8, 1945, at the hospital in Tilden, the daughter of Dale Everett and Darlene Maxine (Binger) Jones. Judy was always pleased about the fact that she was born on the actual day of Victory in Europe during World War II. Dale was serving in the U.S. Army at the time of her birth and did not get home to meet her for several weeks.
She was baptized Nov. 7, 1948, at the Antelope Creek Methodist Church in rural Elgin. She was confirmed on Palm Sunday on March 25, 1956, at the Methodist Church in Royal. She transferred her membership to the Oakdale United Methodist Church on May 15, 1966.

At the age of 14, Judy began working as a nurse’s aide at Neligh’s Antelope Memorial Hospital for 60 cents per hour. She was employed at the hospital for many years. She remained a faithful friend of Antelope Memorial Hospital serving as a volunteer for several years in retirement.
On July 12, 1964, Judy was united in marriage with Michael Allen Wagner at the United Methodist Church in Royal. They began their married life on a farm southeast of Oakdale farming and dairying with Mike’s dad, Lewis Wagner. In 1968, they moved to the Hotaling Family Farm (Mike’s grandparents’) north of Elgin, where they farmed until Mike’s death on July 17, 2004. Along with farming, they were Dekalb seed dealers for approximately 20 years.
Michael and Judy are the parents of two children, Rohn Michael, born in 1966, and Liane Lynne, born in 1970.
After Mike’s death, Judy continued to live on the family farm. She kept busy with activities of her two granddaughters, Stephanie Lynne Bode and Sara Michelle Bode, and also with activities of the Oakdale United Methodist Church. She especially enjoyed the yearly quilt-making for the church’s senior graduates. Judy was also a special influence on friends on their own faith journey.
On Aug. 2, 2014, Judy was united in marriage with Raymond Allen Olson at the Grace Community Church in Norfolk. They made their home together on Judy’s farm near Elgin. Judy was diagnosed with cancer in September 2015. Along with her faith, her spouse was a source of strength during this battle with cancer.
